Often we keep getting messages and calls from different commercial platforms, due to which we often get disturbed, but to stop this problem, TRAI has taken a step, in which TRAI has asked the principal entities if they Will get consent from them before sending any commercial message. This instruction has been given under TCCCP Regulation 2018.

This list includes institutions like PE banks, other financial institutions, insurance companies, trading companies, and businesses. The regulator also said that with the implementation of the new DCA, all consents already given will become invalid. And this time the business will have to take consent from the users digitally.

Permission will have to be taken digitally:

  • The DCA system aims to create an integrated platform for telecom customers to digitally register their consent for commercial communications from different entities.
  • These entities such as banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and trading companies are known as Principal Entities (PEs) or Senders. At present the system is managed separately by the PE.

How the process will work:

  1. It will provide a solution by allowing customers to take, retain, and revoke their consent as per the rules laid down in TCCCP-2018.
  2. This permit data will be shared on the installed Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platform for thorough investigation by all the access providers under TCCCP-2018.
  3. Additionally, these access providers have been ordered to develop an SMS and online facility that will allow customers to express their desire to stop receiving consent messages from any key entity.
