Now you don't require an app to use ChatGPT, the company has introduced something amazing for you. That is now you can use ChatGPT by phone and also on WhatsApp. For this, OpenAI has released an official phone number.

People in areas where this service is available can call the given number and verbally interact with the company's chatbot. Apart from this, people living in other parts of the world can save this number and chat on WhatsApp. At present, the voice call time is limited to 15 minutes per month, but the AI company has said that this may change in the future.

In a post on X OpenAI tweeted, "You can now talk to ChatGPT by calling 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478) in the U.S. or by sending a WhatsApp message to the same number—available everywhere ChatGPT is." Vanity phone numbers are made easier to remember by changing the letters on the keyboard (e.g. A, B, and C mean 2; D, E, and F mean 3) to numbers. The '800' code in this number means that it is toll-free and callers will not have to pay any charges. This feature is currently available only in Canada and the US.

For now, OpenAI said users will only get 15 minutes of call time per month. The company may change its availability and limits in the future. People living outside these countries can still use ChatGPT through a phone number but only on WhatsApp.

Once they save the number, WhatsApp users will then be able to message ChatGPT as one does on the official application or website. At present, the WhatsApp extension of the chatbot supports only text input and output. Other features-like search, canvas, or even image generation via DALL-E-are not available in the WhatsApp feature, let alone the phone call feature. While speaking on the subject, the researchers at OpenAI pointed out that a smartphone is not a requirement for the in-call feature, and works on the phones just about the same.
