North Korea stunned by military exercises of American and South Korean army, several cruise missiles fired into the sea

North Korea fired several cruise missiles into the sea on Saturday, ramping up its weapons-testing activities in response to joint military drills by US and South Korean forces. The South Korean army claimed this.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that South Korean and US intelligence officials were analyzing the details of the launch. North Korea made this launch two days after the end of the 11-day joint military exercise of the US and South Korea. North Korea has long criticized military exercises by the US and South Korea as rehearsals for war.

Earlier on Thursday, North Korea rehearsed a nuclear attack by firing two ballistic missiles amid US-South Korea joint military exercises. North Korean media KCNA reported that Pyongyang had set targets across South Korea and rehearsed the attacks.

North Korea has said it is conducting command post exercises to capture South Korean territory in the event of a conflict. It is noteworthy that North Korea has conducted a record number of weapons tests this year. Just last week, North Korea made a second attempt to put an intelligence satellite into orbit, which failed.

South Korea on Friday imposed sanctions on five North Korean individuals and a company in response to North Korea's launch of a space rocket last month.
