Nirmala Sitharaman spoke on the Amul-Nandini controversy

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said that the entry of the Amul brand in Karnataka happened during the Congress regime. He said- It is wrong to say that Amul is being brought to Karnataka to destroy the Nandini brand. Due to elections in the state, Amul's entry is being made an emotional issue. The Finance Minister said these things during a program in Bengaluru.
Nirmala Sitharaman said- When I came to Bangalore, I ate Nandini's milk, curd and peda, while in Delhi I buy Amul's milk. I represent Karnataka in Delhi, but it does not mean that I will not drink milk if Nandini milk is not available there. I will buy Amul milk and this is not to be against Karnataka.
The Finance Minister said that the Nandini brand also sells its products in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, dairy products from other states are also sold in Karnataka. This is good competition. Because of this, India has become the largest milk producer in the world.
He said that first of all the Yeddyurappa government had increased the price of milk purchased from farmers by Rs 2/litre. Later, the current BJP government increased it to Rs 5/litre, which would benefit the farmers.
