NHAI's DPR cell will monitor highway projects

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has formed a separate DPR cell in NHAI to construct national highways. The cell will look after the detailed project report to be prepared for the construction of national highways in the country, ensuring that every project gets completed on time.

According to the ministry, this cell has been established at the New Delhi headquarters of NHAI. This cell will ensure that the project is complete at the highest construction standards, cost, and time. Along with reviewing each DPR for uniformity, expert opinions will also be given for various related surveys, investigations, designs, etc. Through this, the intention is to follow the guidelines and standards of the Indian Road Congress.

This DPR cell will have a dedicated team of about 40 professionals, including chief DPR experts and road safety, traffic, land acquisition, bridge, tunnel, forest, geotechnical, and senior highway experts.

These experts will help in devising the mechanism for monitoring. They will study the bid documents and technical schedules relating to national highway projects and also give cost estimates based on design features. The officers of the cell will also make a site visit to assess the DPR and the proposals prepared by the design consultants.
