NHAI will initiate monitoring through GIS-based software in the toll plaza. The NHAI will do this work so that the traffic on the national highway can run smoothly without obstacles. In this manner, the starting number to monitor the toll plaza would be 100. Now, let us know more about what benefits people will avail of regarding this.

An official statement has been issued by NHAI about this. These 100 toll plazas have been identified on the basis of congestion feedback received through 1,033 National Highway Helplines. At present, the use of GIS-based software is being started from 100 toll plazas, but soon its number will be increased.

What will be the benefit

  • It has been said in this statement that the live monitoring and tracking system will give congestion alerts and lane distribution recommendations when the long line of vehicles at the toll plaza exceeds the prescribed limit.
  • Apart from providing the name and location of the toll plaza, the software will also share information related to the length of the queue in the meter, the total waiting time and the speed of the vehicles at the toll plaza.
  • The GIS-based software will also tell the current weather information and information about local festivals. With this, NHAI officials will be able to do traffic management at the toll plaza as well as take measures in advance to reduce congestion at the toll plaza.

Transparency and accountability of the toll plaza will be better than earlier by adopting GIS-based software. Many times, it is being seen that the long queue of vehicles is formed at the toll plaza. Due to this, not only common people are inconvenienced but also the authority suffer because of traffic management. With this, the traffic movement will be better as compared to earlier and many changes can also be seen.
