New X feature update by Elon Musk to block, some people may be angry
X Update: Last month, X announced changes to its traditional block feature. The company said that as per the new policy, blocked persons will be able to see the profile and posts of the person who has blocked them, but they will neither be able to react, retweet, or like their posts.
X (formerly known as Twitter) has come up with a new block function. Its update is being released gradually. The social media platform gave information about this feature last month.
After the new update, there would be no advantage in blocking someone as blocking in this new feature would translate to the people being blocked being able to view the profile, posts, and a list of followers and following of the person who blocked them. Users on the platform went on to raise their concern over this change, terming it insecurity for them and promoting ways in which people could have their content stolen.
The block feature across various social media platforms always worked the same. Once somebody has been blocked, a blocked person is not able to view the profile of the person who actually blocked them. This further means they cannot access their posts, interact with them, see their bio or other information, or send them private messages.
Last month, X announced changes to its traditional block feature. The company said that as per the new policy, blocked people will be able to see the profile and posts of the person who has blocked them, but they will neither be able to react, retweet, or like their posts.
Apart from this, they will also not be able to send them direct messages (DM). The earlier policy did not mention followers or the following list, but the new support page states that blocked people can see them too.
