Naseeruddin Shah On Awards: In a new interview, Naseeruddin Shah admitted that he uses his Filmfare Awards as a door handle in the washroom of his farmhouse. Also told that all these awards are useless.
Naseeruddin Shah is one of the most veteran actors in the industry. Don't know how many awards he has won for his brilliant acting. In a recent interview, he revealed that he does not take these awards seriously and said that he uses his Filmfare awards as the door handle of his washroom.
Naseeruddin Shah has won three National Awards for his performances in Paar, Sparsh, and Iqbal. He also won three Filmfare Awards for his performances in Aakrosh, Chakra, and Masoom. In a new interview, the actor revealed how he doesn't take these awards seriously and feels they are all a result of lobbying in the industry.
In a new interview with Aaj Tak, the actor was asked about his views on awards, and whether it is true that he uses awards as door handles in his house. The actor laughed and said, "Any actor who has devoted his life to acting is a good actor. You pick one actor and say he is the best actor of the year. So is it fair?"
I am not proud of those awards. I didn't even go to collect the last two awards I got. So, when I built a farmhouse, I decided to keep these awards there. Whoever goes to the washroom will get two awards each because the handles there are made of Filmfare awards."
Naseeruddin Shah also claimed that the awards are nothing but the result of lobbying and said, "These trophies have no value for me. I was happy when I got the initials. But then, trophies started piling up around me." Sooner or later I realized that these awards are the result of lobbying. No one is getting these awards because of their merit. So I started leaving them behind."
“After that when I got the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan, I remembered my late father who was always worried about my job and used to say 'If you do useless work, you will become a fool'. I looked up and asked my father if he was seeing all this... He was... and I am sure he was happy... I was happy to have those awards. But I Can't afford these competitive prizes."
