Nandini milk prices hiked by Rs 2 per liter; New rates applicable from June 26, this benefit will also be available
Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) on Tuesday announced a hike in milk prices by Rs 2 per liter from June 26. But there is also beneficial news for consumers. KMF has said in its statement that it will increase the quantity of milk in its half and one-liter packets by 50 ml.
The Karnataka Milk Federation announced a hike in the price of milk sold in the state on Tuesday, which will come into effect from June 26. But here's a positive development for consumers: the KMF said that it would increase the quantity of milk in half and one-liter packets by 50 ml. The state government of Karnataka increased the sales tax on fuel, and now petrol prices in the state go up by Rs 3 per liter and diesel by Rs 3.5 per liter.
In a press release, the KMF said, "As the present harvest season is at the doorsteps, milk storage in all district milk unions is increasing daily and the current storage is close to one crore liters. In this backdrop, an additional Rs 2 on each packet is increased. It has been decided to give consumers an additional 50 ml of milk in only half-liter and one-liter packets."
Currently, Nandini's 500 ml toned milk packet is sold at Rs 22. With the hike of Rs 2 per liter, a 550 ml milk packet will now be Rs 24. Similarly, a 1000 ml (1 liter) packet was earlier priced at Rs 42, and now a 1,050 ml milk packet will be sold for Rs 44. Similarly, prices of other milk categories under the brand Nandini will also go up. Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers Federation is the second largest federation in the dairy industry in the country, said KMF in a statement. KMF has been procuring and processing the milk supplied by more than 27 lakh state dairy farmers through its member milk unions during the last five decades and is offering a variety of superior quality milk and milk products under the brand name 'Nandini.'
