Last week, 10 people, including Yevgeny Prigozhin, died in a plane crash. After this, it was discussed that President Putin would also attend Prigozhin's funeral. However, at the moment this thing has come to a complete halt. It has been said by the Kremlin that Putin has made no plans to attend the funeral.
Last week, 10 people were killed in a plane crash, including the head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin. Russia was being told responsible for this. However, a clarification has been given by the Kremlin on this. At the same time, it was being discussed that Russian President Putin would go to attend Prigozhin's funeral.
The Kremlin said Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans to attend the funeral of Wagner mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Two months prior to this incident, Prigozhin and his mercenaries had launched a mutiny against Putin's top military commanders. They then took control of the southern city of Rostov and began to advance towards Moscow before withdrawing 200 km (125 mi) from the capital.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, when asked whether Vladimir Putin would attend Prigozhin's funeral, said: "Whether or not the president will be there is not a specific consideration." Peskov said the Kremlin did not have any specific information about the funeral and that the event was being carried out according to the family.
Investigators said on Sunday that some genetic tests had confirmed that Prigozhin was among the 10 killed in the crash. The Kremlin has dismissed as outright lies the suggestion by some Western politicians and commentators that Putin ordered Prigozhin's killing in revenge.
