More than 31 states-UT agree on the new labour law

Many provisions have been made in the labour law to be implemented soon in the country for organized and unorganized sector workers. These will prove beneficial for the workers. The employee will be entitled to gratuity only after working for one year under the law. At present, at least 5 years of service is required for gratuity. Employees will get overtime if they work more than 15 minutes than the scheduled time. According to the Labour Ministry, more than 31 states have accepted it. The new provisions will be implemented soon.
Under the new rule, no more than 48 hours of work can be taken in a week. With the consent of the employer and the employee, the employee will be able to complete 48 hours of work four days a week. For the rest of the day, he will be able to take leave. New employees will now have to work 180 days to take longer leave. Now, only after working for 240 days, they were entitled to long leave.
Without the consent of the women employees, they cannot be pressurized to work the night shift. After the implementation of the new rules, the salary will be less in the hands of the employee, but the provident fund and gratuity will be more. The basic salary of the employee will be 50% or more than the CTC of every month.
On the new law, the Indian Federation of Trade Unions says that with the new law, a large section of workers will be out of the purview of the law. Earlier, the institution in which 20 people worked, also had protection. Now there is a provision to increase this number to 50.
If the negotiations between the union and the employer on any issue fail, the information will be given to the government. Thereafter the matter will be sent to the Tribunal. Until the final decision is taken there, the workers will not be allowed to strike. The strike will be considered illegal. Not only this but mass leave has also been kept in the category of the strike.
The new labour code (labour law) has been accepted in principle by more than 31 states and union territories. Most have also made rules. If sources are to be believed, some states have raised objections on some points. Negotiations are on for this. The date of when the new labour code will be implemented is not fixed, but the ministry says it will be implemented soon.
