Launched last year, 'Mission Amrit Sarovar' aims to develop and revive 75 water bodies in each district of the country as a part of the celebration of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
PM Modi said, "More than 60,000 Amrit Sarovars built during the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence have emerged as shining spots, while work is on for the construction of more than 50,000." He also appreciated the efforts of the people towards water conservation by showing responsibility and awareness.
On his recent visit to Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi said that tribals of Pakaria village have adopted water-conservation techniques and he held further discussions with them on nature and saving water.
PM Modi said, "You would remember that sometime back, I had visited Shahdol. I met some tribal brothers and sisters of Pakaria village. I had a pleasant and fruitful discussion with them on saving nature and water conservation."
PM Modi said, “Now I have come to know that tribal brothers and sisters of Pakaria village have already started implementing water conservation ideas. With the help of local administration, people have converted around a hundred wells into water recharge systems. changed." "The rainwater now flows into these wells and from there seeps under the surface," he said.
PM Modi said, "This will gradually increase the groundwater level in the area. Now, all the villagers have set a target of using around 800 such wells across the area to recharge the water."
Pointing to the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh, he said that there is a new record of planting 30 crore saplings in a single day. PM Modi said, "A few days ago another encouraging news came from Uttar Pradesh when 30 crore trees were planted in a single day, which is a record."
He said, "This effort was part of a campaign launched by the state government. Such efforts are great examples of public awareness as well as public participation. I would like all of us to join such efforts to plant trees and save water." "
