Meta warned the employees, said- come to office or else you will lose your job
Meta has taken a tough stand on its return-to-office (RTO) policy and announced that employees will have to comply or they will be fired. Lori Goller, Meta's head of human resources, outlined the updated RTO guideline in an email on the company's internal platform Workplace. The new policy directs that employees appointed to an office must work from that office.
The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a new tradition of working from home, which is somewhat forced and voluntary. To keep their employees safe, organizations had no option but to allow them to work from home. However, over the past 12 months or so, many organizations have implemented some form of out-of-office policy.
One of these is Meta, which has a rule of working three days from the office. However, it seems that the employees are flouting that rule. According to a media report, Lori Goller, Meta's chief of people, sent a memo to employees warning them about the rule.
According to media reports, Goler said in the memo that managers will review badge and status tool information on a monthly basis and, subject to local law and work council requirements, take action with those who do not meet the requirement.
The meta has different functions from office policies in different regions, but the three-day standard is fairly common. Many other technology companies follow this policy. Apple and Google also have a similar policy of working from the office for three days.
Goler warned the employees not to violate the work-from-office policy and urged the employees to follow it strictly. He added that as with other company policies, repeated violations may result in disciplinary action, including downgrades in performance and ratings, and termination if not resolved.
It is not that Meta is forcing all the employees to come to the office. As per the report, the company has remote workers who are advised not to come to the office for more than four days every two months.
"We believe distributed ledger work will continue to be important in the future, especially as our technology improves," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement. Right now our personal focus is designed to support a strong, valuable experience for those of us who choose to work from the office, and we've been thoughtful about where we invest in remote work.
