Luxury car brand Mercedes Benz India has announced to increase in the prices of its cars by Rs 2 to 12 lakh. The new prices on cars will come into effect from April 1. The company has increased the prices of its cars for the second time in three months. Earlier in January, Mercedes prices were increased by 5%.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, told the news agency on Thursday (March 9) that the rupee has weakened against the euro in the last few months. In October, one euro was about 78-79 rupees, which has now become 87 rupees. Due to this, the manufacturing cost is increasing. If we do not take such a step then our business in India will be affected. Due to this, the prices of cars have to be increased by 5%.
On February 23, luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz announced a long-term strategic partnership with Google to improve its navigation experience. The company said in a statement that this partnership will help Mercedes-Benz create a driving experience that combines information from Google Maps with the luxury car.
With this partnership, Mercedes-Benz customers have started getting early new features such as location details provided by Google. The companies have agreed to further collaboration using Google Cloud's artificial intelligence (AI), data and open infrastructure solutions.
The partnership will also bring the YouTube app to the Mercedes-Benz infotainment system. In addition, Mercedes-Benz will use Google Maps data to enable assistive driving features such as automatic speed adjustments before intersections, roundabouts or curves.
This partnership will help Mercedes-Benz compete with other Chinese players like Elon Musk's Tesla and BYD. Meanwhile, other carmakers such as General Motors, Renault, Nissan and Ford have also embedded a full package of Google services in their vehicles. Which includes many services like Google Maps and Google Assistant.
