Mehbooba was furious for singing Bapu's hymn to school children: Said - BJP is promoting the agenda of Hindutva in the valley, we are being distanced from our religion
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti have targeted the Jammu and Kashmir administration. He shared a video of children singing bhajans of Gandhi in a government school on Twitter, accusing the authorities of furthering the BJP's Hindutva agenda in the union territory.
The video shared by the former chief minister on Monday is of a government school in Kulgam district, about 70 km from Srinagar. In this, the first school board appears. After this, students sitting in the class are seen, who are singing 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram', the favourite hymn of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Many girl students are also seen in the class, who are wearing hijabs. There, teachers are also present.
Mehbooba wrote in the caption of the video – Jailing religious scholars, shutting down Jama Masjid and directing school children to sing Hindu bhajans here exposes the real Hindutva agenda of the Indian government in Kashmir. Denying their orders would be calling for PSA and UAPA. This is the price we are paying for this changing Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba asked what happened to 'Lab pe aati hai dua banke tamanna meri'. There is no mention of any religion in it. We respect bhajans, but what does the government want to do by making Muslim children sing bhajans?
He wrote in another tweet – Hypocrisy knows no bounds, as the BJP itself leaves no chance to tie a turban in a temple, dargah or gurudwara. These people will not stop until they implement their agenda and bring under their control all our religious and Sufi traditions.
Here, Jammu and Kashmir BJP state president Ravindra Raina has dismissed Mehbooba Mufti's allegations. He has accused the former Chief Minister of spreading lies without facts. He said that Mehbooba is pouring poison into the minds of the youth for her political selfishness. Along with this, he has also shared a copy of the order of the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department, in which instructions have been given to sing bhajans in schools on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram Bhajan is also included in the schools during the program.
