Meera Chopra Embraces the Bare Face for Challenging Role in 'Safed'
"Safed," directed by Sandeep Singh, explores the unlikely bond between Kaali and an eunuch, both isolated and seeking solace in each other.
Actress Meera Chopra, known for her work across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, is tackling a unique challenge in her upcoming film "Safed." Playing the role of Kaali, a widow ostracized by society, Chopra ditches the usual makeup and hairstyling, embracing a raw and natural appearance.
"Safed," directed by Sandeep Singh, explores the unlikely bond between Kaali and an eunuch, both isolated and seeking solace in each other. Chopra candidly admits the vulnerability of going makeup-free on camera. "Without the usual grooming, we become very conscious of our looks," she says.

Initially, Chopra attempted to apply a minimal base, but director Singh encouraged her to go completely barefaced. "It was refreshing," she shares. "I just got up, washed my face, and went for the shoot. It allowed me to embody Kaali in a more natural and authentic way."
Beyond the film, Chopra also touched on her cousin Mannara Chopra's participation in the reality show Bigg Boss. While admitting she only saw the premiere episode and generally avoids the show's drama, Chopra expressed support for her cousin and her hope for her victory.
"Safed," featuring Meera Chopra alongside Abhay Verma and Barkha Bisht, premieres on ZEE5 on December 29th. Chopra's willingness to embrace vulnerability and rawness in her performance promises a thought-provoking and intimate film experience.
