Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) introduced the Fronx SUV in April, following its global debut with the five-door Jimny at the 2023 Auto Expo. The compact SUV coupe has been well received by the customers and its sales are increasing steadily. In July 2023, the ranking of Maruti Suzuki Fronx moved up and stood at the third position in the overall SUV sales standings.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV has left behind the Tata Nexon as well as the Tata Punch in terms of sales. It has become the third best-selling SUV in the country as it sold a total of 13,220 units behind its siblings Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Creta. The Fronx is based on the same lightweight Heartect platform as the Baleno premium hatchback and played a key role in helping Maruti Suzuki register over 6 percent growth last month.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx price starts at Rs 7.46 Lakh and goes up to Rs 13.13 Lakh (ex-showroom). The coupe SUV draws power from 1.2L NA K-Series 3-Cylinder petrol and 1.0L 3-Cylinder BoosterJet turbo petrol engines. The first engine is mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT.
Whereas, the latter is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. The Frons is placed below the Brezza in the company's domestic lineup and is sold exclusively through Nexa premium dealerships. It shares a lot in common with the Baleno including the interior bits and features list.
The Fronx has been one of those SUVs that have helped Maruti Suzuki garner a decent market share in the SUV segment over the past few months. In the top-10 SUV sales chart for the month of July 2023, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer had three models, including the Brezza, Franks, and the Grand Vitara.
As far as the Nexon is concerned, it has been the best-selling SUV in India for a long time now and is expected to return to the number one spot when the facelift arrives next month as it will get a host of updates.
