Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV eVX has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. It was spotted on the streets of Gurugram. This electric car, which is being tested with heavy camouflage, looks similar to its concept version.
It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and was shown in an almost production-ready avatar at the Japan Mobility Show in October. Come, let us know about it.
This testing mule has been tapped extensively in India. Furthermore, the Japanese manufacturer has ensured that it does not reveal any cosmetic changes made to the previously showcased concept. MSIL had earlier revealed that it would launch the model in 2025.
The eVX will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. Although power figures have not been revealed yet, the company has claimed that the battery pack of this EV (the chemistry of which is not known) will be capable of delivering a range of up to 550 km on a full charge.
Let us tell you that the eVX will be based on Toyota's 40PL platform designed for BEVs, which will allow the batteries to be integrated into the floorboard, thereby saving more space for the occupants in the cabin.
We can expect Maruti Suzuki to keep the price of the model competitive as it aims to disrupt the Indian passenger vehicle EV landscape, which is currently dominated by Tata Motors.
The OEM has taken its due time to enter the electric phase and will aim to establish itself in the growing sector with competitive pricing.
