India's shooter Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol Shooting and ended India's 12-year medal drought in Olympic shooting. This is also the first medal for India in the Paris Olympics. Manu Bhaker had qualified for the final in this event on 27 July. On Sunday, she scored 221.7 points in the final match. The gold and silver medals of this event have gone to Korea. Oh Ye Jin of Korea won the gold medal with 243.2 points, while the second player from Korea clinched the silver medal, Kim Yeji with 241.3 points.

Manu Bhaker participated in the Tokyo Olympics at the age of 19. Though she remained empty-handed there, India's overall performance in shooting was also poor in this Olympics.

Manu Bhaker did a magnificent comeback in the Paris Olympics, taking a bronze medal. This is the country's first medal in women's shooting. She is also the first Indian shooter to win a gold medal at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires 2018. She has won the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games titles before this. Manu Bhaker once overtook Korea's Kim Yeji for the second position. Manu's last shot was on the target of 10.3 while Korea's Kim Yeji hit the target of 10.5 and went ahead of Manu. Manu Bhaker's score was 221.7 and Kim Yeji scored 221.8. She got two more shots to decide the gold, but she could not beat her own compatriot Oh Ye Jin, and won the silver.
