Manoj had bought a car after doing 'Satya': Said - did low-budget films..the fee was so low that he could not even take it home
Manoj Bajpayee has said that in the initial phase of his career, he used to get very less money for doing films. He didn't even have his own house. He was able to buy a house almost 8 years after the release of the film Satya.
Manoj said that the budget for the films in which he used to work was very low, due to which the fees were also very less. Manoj said that after working in Satya, he was able to buy only one car. Although Manoj believes that that time was very free for him. They could go wherever they wanted. Now that is not freedom.
Manoj said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, 'The films I was doing at that time. I was not getting good money from him. I was doing films like Satya, Shool, Zubeidaa, or Dil Per Mat Le Yaar.
All these films were of low budget. I did these films because I wanted to be a part of them. Even though I could not earn money from these films, my hunger for acting was satisfied by working in them.
Manoj further said, 'It was only after seven or eight years of Satya that I managed to buy a house for myself. Till that time, I could only manage my work with the money coming from the film.
Before Satya, I was able to get myself only one car. Although I loved that life. I used to enjoy that freedom very much. I feel cumbersome when security guards walk with me.
Manoj Bajpayee has not become such a big star today, he has struggled a lot to get success. He comes from a simple family in Bihar. He started working in plays at the age of 17.
When he went to Bombay, no one knew him there. They were even hungry for food. Manoj had such a condition at that time that even a big pav seemed expensive to him. He did not have enough money to travel.
He had to walk for 5 kilometers on foot. In 1994, Manoj was given the first break by Mahesh Bhatt through his TV serial 'Swabhiman'. He used to get Rs 1500 per episode for working on it.
Manoj made his debut with Shekhar Kapur's film 'Bandit Queen'. However, Manoj considers Ram Gopal Varma's 'Satya' in 1998 as his real debut and this film changed his life. He was recognized all over the country with the role of 'Bhikhu Mhatre'. He also received the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for this role.
Manoj shared untold things related to his professional life in another interview. He said, 'Early on, a famous actress told me that Manoj, you don't look like a hero. Well, I did not feel bad about this because I already knew this thing.
When Shyam Benegal cast me for Zubeidaa, I couldn't believe it for a second. I started wondering if I really looked like a prince (his character was a prince in the film).
There has been a controversy over Manoj Bajpayee's upcoming film 'Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai'. After the release of the film's trailer on May 8, the Asaram Bapu Trust issued a notice to the makers of the film. In fact, it is shown in the film that a 16-year-old girl has been raped by a Baba.
Since it is clearly written in the disclaimer that this film is inspired by true events. Baba's appearance seen in the film is directly similar to Asaram's. The counsel for the trust has requested the court to stop the release and promotion of the film as well. The film will release on May 23 on the OTT platform ZEE 5.
