Manish Sisodia filed a bail plea in the trial court: the application was filed a day before the custody was over, SC had said- to go to the High Court
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case, filed a bail application in the lower court on Friday. Earlier, he had moved to the Supreme Court for bail. But the SC rejected his plea and asked him to go to the High Court. Please tell that the CBI custody of Sisodia is ending on March 4 (Saturday). He will be presented in the CBI court at 2 pm on Saturday.
The CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26 in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Sisodia was produced in the court on 27 February, the court sent him to judicial custody till 4 March. Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi had moved a petition for an urgent hearing on Tuesday morning against Sisodia's arrest, which was accepted by the court.
A bench of CJI Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha heard the case at 4 pm on February 28. According to the news agency ANI, the court rejected the petition and said that you go to the High Court, what is the point of coming directly to us? We cannot promote a wrong tradition. On the other hand, after the arrest of Sisodia, he and already jailed Satyendar Jain resigned from the ministerial posts.
CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26 after 8 hours of questioning. The CBI had told the Delhi court that Sisodia was not cooperating in the investigation. They are giving roundabout answers to every question, so their 5-day remand is required. Sisodia's lawyer opposed it. His argument was that sending a deputy CM on remand would send the wrong message.
