In a landmark collaboration, Manipal Hospitals, a leading healthcare provider in India, has joined forces with the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) and British Training Academy (BTA) to introduce a pioneering paediatric training initiative. The partnership aims to provide high-quality training opportunities for young paediatricians in India, fostering clinical excellence through a one-year post-graduation and super-specialty program within Manipal Hospitals, followed by three years of skill refinement in various UK hospitals.

The alliance was officially sealed with the signing ceremony attended by key figures, including Dr. Manish Rai, Hospital Director of Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, Prof. Parag Singhal, Director and CEO of BAPIO UK, Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, Chairman of Manipal Hospitals, and other distinguished doctors.
This collaboration represents Manipal Hospitals' commitment to academic and clinical excellence. The program, overseen by experienced Indo-UK faculty from Manipal Hospitals and BAPIO, will be mentored by leaders such as Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal and Dr. Manish Rai. It encompasses a comprehensive training curriculum aimed at enhancing the skills of participating doctors in paediatric super-specialties.
Dr. H. Dr. Karthik Nagesh, Chairman & HOD - Neonatal ICU & Manipal Advanced Children's Centre, highlighted Manipal's three-decade legacy in paediatric education and outlined the program's ambition to elevate the Neonatology and Paediatric department into a center of clinical excellence.
BAPIO, boasting around thirty thousand members, is enthusiastic about contributing to the training program. Enrolled doctors will receive a general medicine counsel license to practice in the UK, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of this groundbreaking initiative.
