LPL 2023: B-Luv Candy became the champion of Lanka Premier League for the first time, Dambulla Aura dusted in the final match

B-Luv Candy has won the Lanka Premier League 2023 title by defeating Dambulla Aura by 5 wickets. The candy team has captured the trophy for the first time. In the final match played on 20 August, the Kandy team won with 1 ball to spare.

In an exciting match, when the team needed 1 run from the last two balls, the heart rate of every person sitting in the stadium increased and the winning run came out from Pramod's bat, after which B-Luv Candy, captained by Angelo Mathew, won the match. Named the title.

This was the fourth edition of the league. Till now in all three editions (2020,2021,2022) these titles were won by Jaffna Kings only. In such a situation, along with reaching the finals for the first time, the title was captured by the Candy team.

Actually, in the final match of LPL 2023, Dambulla won the toss and decided to bat first. In the stipulated 20 overs, the team scored 147 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Dhananjay de Silva (40) scored the most runs from the team.

The team had started well. Mohammad Harris and Mendis added 49 runs for the first wicket. Mendis missed just 6 runs by scoring a half-century in the match. He scored 44 runs in 37 balls. Meanwhile, Dinesh Chandimal 24 runs and Chaturanga de Silva returned to the pavilion without opening the account.

In response, the Candy team came out to chase the target and won by scoring 151 runs losing 5 wickets in 19.5 overs. Kimindu Mendis scored the highest 44 runs from the team. Noor Ahmed took 3 wickets from Dambulla.

Wanindu Hasaranga got the Player of the Series award in Lanka Premier League 2023, who scored the most sixes, wickets, and runs in the entire tournament. In the final match, Wanindu could not play due to injury. At the same time, Angelo Mathews got the Player of the Match award after the final match.
