'Leave my father,' Ashwin's reaction to the insulting statement, appeals to stop the bad tradition

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reacted to a controversial retirement statement on Thursday, 19 December of his father. Ashwin's father made a shocking allegation that his son was being insulted, which could be the reason for his sudden retirement. Now Ashwin said that the media should leave his father alone.

In fact, in an interview with a channel, Ashwin's father said his son was being insulted. He also said that how long Ashwin would tolerate the insult. Although he did not accuse anyone, Ashwin's father said that the whole family was shocked by his son's sudden announcement.
After this, Ashwin posted on social media and wrote that leave his father alone.

It is worth noting that Ravichandran Ashwin retired in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. Ashwin returned home soon after the third Test match of the series was drawn at the Gabba.
Ravichandran said that he agrees with his son's decision, but he also said that he wishes that Ashwin would continue to play for the senior national team.

He told me, 'I don't know what was going on in his mind.
He just announced it.' And I have also accepted it with full happiness. I had no feelings about it, but the way he announced his retirement, on the one side, I was very happy, on the other side, I was not happy because he should have remained in position.

India included Sundar in the playing XI instead of R Ashwin for the first Test to be held in Perth. Ashwin was part of the playing XI for the Pink Ball Test match in Adelaide. However, the veteran off-spinner was dropped from the squad for the third Test in Brisbane and was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja.
