Layoffs once again in Meta: Marketing, Admin, and HR employees will be laid off in India
Facebook's parent company Meta will lay off employees in India in the latest round of layoffs this week. According to reports, in this latest round of layoffs, employees working in marketing, administration, human resources, and other departments in Indian operations will be affected.
According to sources, 'This retrenchment of India's employees is a part of the second round of retrenchment done earlier. In which employees of all levels are being fired.
An employee who was laid off from Meta's India operations told Business Today on Thursday that the company will provide three months' severance pay along with additional monetary support depending on the employment duration.
Meta announced its first round of layoffs in November last year. When CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that 13% of the company's total workforce ie 11,000 employees would be laid off.
Zuckerberg made a similar announcement in March, saying the second round of layoffs would affect 10,000 employees globally. Meta informed me that the second round of screening would be done in three rounds.
By the end of September 2022, Meta had 87,314 employees. Meta currently owns some of the largest social media platforms in the world including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.
