A major accident took place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. This morning, 18517 Korba-Visakhapatnam Express suddenly caught fire at Visakhapatnam railway station. This damaged four coaches of the train. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident. It is being told that the train reached the station at 6.30 am on August 4 and the coaches were parked on platform number 4. According to sources, the fire broke out in the B-7 coach in the morning and someone saw it, who informed the railway personnel.

Sources said, as soon as the fire broke out, thick smoke started coming out of the B-7 coach. The fire reportedly spread to B-6 and M-1 coaches. The affected coaches were detached from the train and removed from there. The relief was that there were no passengers on the train at the time of the incident. Thus a major accident was averted. Railway employees have reached the spot and are trying to control the fire.

Fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control. Railway officials, Government Railway Police, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel reached the spot and broke the glass panes of the windows of the third AC (B-7) coach. Fire engines police officials and city police personnel also reached the station.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Saurabh Prasad said that a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel patrolling the station saw smoke coming out of the B-7 coach. After this, the fire department and station staff were informed. The fire was brought under control by 11.10 am and the affected rake was evacuated as per procedures. The fire broke out in the rear portion of the coach. An inquiry will be ordered to find out the cause of the fire.
