The first Test of the two-Test series being played between South Africa and India is being played at the Supersport Park in Centurion. On the rain-interrupted first day, the Indian team scored 208 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. When the top order completely collapsed in India's first innings, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul took over the innings, playing the role of a troubleshooter. By the end of the day's play, KL Rahul returned to the pavilion after scoring 70 not out. KL Rahul's class innings have been highly praised by former great batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar said that KL's inning of 70 runs is not less than a century.

Sunil Gavaskar, during a conversation on Star Sports, said that KL's innings of 70 runs is equal to a century or 120 runs. Whether they will get to score runs on the second day or not depends on the lower-order batsmen. Even if KL doesn't get to score further runs, for me these runs are as much as a century. Based on KL Rahul's 70 runs, Team India was able to cross the 200-run mark on the first day.

Talking about the match, South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited India to bat first. His decision proved correct because three wickets of Team India fell very quickly. After this, Kohli and Iyer managed the innings a bit, but as soon as the fourth wicket fell, there was a continuous fall of wickets. During this, KL Rahul held one end and with the help of tail batsmen, India's score crossed 200.
