Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has pulled up the Gujarat Police for the public thrashing of some people. During an interview on Thursday, he said that the police has set a wrong example by doing so. The police of any state have no right to take the law into their own hands. In fact, recently in the Kheda district of Gujarat, some people were publicly thrashed by the police. He was accused of allegedly pelting stones at a Garba event. A video related to this went viral on social media, in which policemen are seen openly beating up the youth.
During this, hundreds of people were present on the spot, who were supporting this action of the police. At the same time, many people on social media were seen supporting the Gujarat Police regarding this.
A case of stone pelting came to light during the Garba program in Navratri celebrations in Undhela village of Kheda on the night of 3 October. Around 6 people were injured during this. Police detained nine people for allegedly throwing stones at the event. After this, on Tuesday, he was beaten up in front of the villagers.
