Kashmiri journalist stopped at Delhi airport for the second time

Pulitzer Prize winner and Kashmiri photojournalist Sana Irshad Mattoo was stopped at the Delhi airport on Tuesday. Journalist Sana Irshad was on her way to New York to receive the Pulitzer Prize. He said that despite having a valid US visa and ticket, he was stopped at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi. This is the second time that he has been stopped at Delhi airport. Earlier in July also he was barred from going abroad.
Sana Irshad wrote on social media – I was going to New York to receive the Pulitzer Prize, but I was stopped at the immigration of Delhi airport. I also have a US visa and ticket. Despite that, I was not allowed to go abroad.
He said- This is the second time that I have been stopped without reason or reason. After reaching out to several officials after what happened a few months back, I did not get any response. Once in a lifetime, there was an opportunity to attend the award ceremony.
Earlier, she was on her way to Paris to attend a book launch and a photography exhibition in July but was stopped by immigration officials at the Delhi airport. According to officials, he was prevented from going abroad because of the restrictions imposed on him by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
After the incident, Sana Irshad Mattoo said that whatever happened today was completely unexpected. Sana tweeted from her official Twitter handle- 'I was on my way to Paris for the book launch and photography exhibition to be among the 10 awardees of the Serendipity Arles Grant 2020. Despite having a visa to France, I was stopped from boarding the flight by the immigration officials at the Delhi airport. No reason was given to me. It was only said that I cannot travel abroad.
Four Indian photojournalists, including Mattoo, were awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the media's highest honour, in May this year for their coverage during the global pandemic Kovid-19.
