Karan shared a story - Randhir Kapoor compared Kareena to comedian Johnny Lever

The film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is one of the best films of director Karan Johar's career. Now during a recent interview, Karan recalled the old days and told that Kareena's father compared the character of 'Poo' to comedian Johnny Lever because he was a funny character. But when Poo's jokes were told on the set, no one laughed.
Shahrukh Khan himself also took Karan one-on-one and said that he did not find the character of Poo funny at all. Even after negative feedback, Karan remained firm in his stubbornness and in the end, this character became the favourite of the people.
During the conversation in the All About Movies podcast, Karan said- 'Randhir Kapoor had praised Poo's character and said that she would look like Johnny Lever in the film. But the opposite happened on the set and no one was laughing at his jokes.
During the conversation, Karan said- 'Kareena in real life is more like Poo than the song in Jab We Met. I tell him that if the situation was different, I would want to be in a relationship with him.
When Karan was told that even after all this time, people repeat Poo's dialogues to date, he said- 'When I look back, I wonder if PHAT (Pretty Hot and Tempting) also existed. Was it a thing, or did I make it up?
'Because in 2001 when I wrote those dialogues and she was saying them, nobody was laughing on the sets. Only me and Kareena were laughing at these lines.
Recalling the shooting days, Karan said- 'No one understood what we were doing. During this Shahrukh took me aside and said – I do not find this character funny at all, you are working unnecessarily on this character.
When no one laughed on the set, we thought that we might not have been able to create a good character for the film. Poo was ahead of his time, but it is also true that this character was not original. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham did a great collection at the box office during that time.
