Kantara has been sent as a nomination for Oscars 2023. Its makers Hombale Films have recently confirmed this. Makers say that they have sent their film Kantara for Oscar 2023 nomination at the last moment. Makers have expressed hope that their film should be nominated for Oscars so that the message shown in the film can be recognized globally.
Earlier, SS Rajamouli's RRR has already been sent for Oscar nomination. Please tell that Kantara, made under the direction of Rishabh Shetty, has done a business of more than 400 crores worldwide.
Hombale Productions founder Vijay Kirgandur said, “We have filed the nomination for Kantara for the Oscars. We want that the message we have tried to convey through this film should get an identity globally. Let us tell you that earlier RRR has been sent to the 'For Your Consideration' category of Oscar.
After KGF, Kantara has written a new chapter in the Kannada industry. Originally made in the Kannada language, the film has collected more than 400 crores worldwide.
Unlike today's movies which die within two weeks of release, Kantara continued its stupendous run in theatres for almost two months. All the pundits and critics of the film world are surprised to see the earnings of this film made at just 18 crores.
The Rishabh Shetty starrer is ruling the box office as well as on IMDb. Kantara continues to top IMDb's list. By achieving a rating of 9.4, it has made a record of becoming the best Indian film. Earlier this record was in the name of KGF-2.
Hindu beliefs are shown in Kantara. The film is basically based on the tradition of Bhoot Kola. Bhoot Kola is a ritual observed in the rural areas of Karnataka. In this, the gods are worshiped by the people of the village. During the puja, a person from the village wears the costume of a god and starts dancing. The person who dances is called a divine dancer.
It is believed that while dancing, deities come inside the person. During this, whatever the divine dancer says, it is considered God's order for the villagers, the story of the Kantara movie is also inspired by this practice.
The Rishabh Shetty starrer film was released in theatres on 30 September. In the initial days of release, the film's earnings were very slow, but gradually due to tremendous word of mouth, the film started gaining momentum. Originally made in the Kannada language, the makers released it in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages on October 14, keeping in mind the stupendous collection of the film.
