Kane Williamson will also not play the India vs New Zealand third Test
Kane Williamson to Miss Mumbai Test: Kane Williamson was ruled out of the first and second Tests against India, but his recovery pace is very slow. So now he will not play the India vs New Zealand Mumbai Test as well. It is expected that he will return from the series against England later this month.

New Zealand team took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-Test series against India. Kane Williamson will also miss the third Test between India and New Zealand. The Kiwi veteran is suffuring from a back injury, which kept him out of the first two Tests in Bengaluru and Pune. Although he was expected to recover in 5 days, New Zealand feel that it is too big a risk for him to go into the Mumbai match as there is a home Test series starting later this month against England.
The last game of the series against New Zealand will be played in Mumbai. As the former New Zealand captain, he was expected to play a key role against India. In his absence, too, the New Zealand team has won the series. So, the Kiwi team management does not want to take the risk of playing the injured Kane in the last game.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said, "Kane is constantly giving good signs, but he is not fully ready to board the plane and join us." Kane Williamson was included in the team squad for the three-match Test series against India but due to injury, he is on rehab in New Zealand itself.
New Zealand will host England for a series of 3 matches starting from November 28 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The Kiwis team still has a chance to make it to the final of the World Test Championship as there are four Test matches left in the ongoing 2023-25 cycle, and they need to win all Tests to play the final.
