Jodhpur News: Jodhpur division of North-Western Railway has earned about Rs 14.49 crore from the sale of railway scrap in the last financial year. This income has been earned from the sale of 3493 metric tonnes of scrap of the railway division.

Jodhpur division of the North-Western Railway has collected Rs 14.49 crore from scrap sales in the previous financial year. 3493 metric tonnes of scrap were disposed of successfully during the financial year ending on March 31 by the division.
Providing information, Anurag Tripathi, Jodhpur Division's Divisional Railway Manager, mentioned that the scrap disposal campaign was carried out in the form of a mission in the division. Its aim was not just to generate revenue, but to also clean up the railway premises and make them organized and safe.
DRM Tripathi said that the income from this process will be used in works like expansion of passenger facilities in Jodhpur division, modernization of waiting rooms, platform expansion and installation of modern safety equipment.
Railway scrap mainly consists of old rail tracks, sleepers, sheds, unused coaches and wagons, old vehicles, water tanks and other iron scrap. All these materials become unusable over time and it is necessary to remove them systematically.
Removal of scrap spread around stations and rail lines has made the movement of trains safer than before. Old pieces like sleepers and tie bars used to cause accidents, which were disposed of in time.
Removal of unusable structures like old staff quarters, cabins and sheds has provided space for state-of-the-art passenger facilities, reducing congestion and giving passengers a better experience.
The money raised from the scrap sale will be used to install clean toilets, better waiting rooms, drinking water facilities, automatic ticket vending machines and modern safety equipment like CCTVs, bio-toilets, elevated walkways, etc.
