JIMEX 24: 'INS Shivalik' reached Yokosuka, Japan for maritime exercise, warmly welcomed

JIMEX 24: 'INS Shivalik' reached Yokosuka, Japan for maritime exercise, warmly welcomed

Indian Navy's indigenous stealth frigate 'INS Shivalik' has reached Yokosuka to participate in the eighth edition of the bilateral Japan-India maritime exercise. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

The Navy spokesperson said in a statement, 'JIMEX 24 will provide an opportunity to learn from each other's best practices and promote mutual cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). This exercise facilitates operational interaction between the Indian Navy and the JMSDF to fulfill their responsibility towards maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.'

INS Shivalik reached Yokosuka, Japan to participate in the eighth edition of the exercise. Officials said the ship was warmly welcomed by Vice Admiral Ito Hiroshi of JMSDF Yokosuka District and Indian Ambassador to Japan Sibi George. The exercise includes harbor and sea phases.

The Indian Navy is represented by the INS Shivalik, while the JMSDF is represented by the guided missile destroyer JS Yugiri. The joint drill will also include integral helicopters from both navies.

M/s Secon Engineering Projects Private Limited (SEPPL), a Visakhapatnam-based MSME shipyard, produced the fifth ship for the Indian Navy's 08x Missile Ammunition Project. The Missile Ammunition Vessel LSAM 13 (Yard 8) was launched on Sunday at the M/s Vinayaga Marine Petroleum Limited dockyard in Mira Bhayander, Maharashtra. Manisha Vig, ND's General Manager (MBI), presided over the ceremony.
