South Africa took the 2-Test series 1-0 against West Indies in Guyana, winning the same by 40 runs. Keshav Maharaj was adjudged Player of the Series for his brilliant bowling while Wiaan Mulder, who bowled lethally in the first innings, was adjudged Player of the Match. Chasing 263 to win, West Indies came out to bat in the fourth innings. The Caribbean team did not get off to the best of starts, though in the middle overs, Gudakesh Motie and Jomel Warrican were trying to turn things in their favor when Maharaj and Rabada blew away their hopes.

On Day Two, South Africa batted for 223/5 in the second innings after getting West Indies all out for 144 runs. On Day 3 of the match, the West Indies bowlers had a field day, taking the remaining five wickets of South Africa within just 23 runs. Jayden Seales scalped another 6 wickets in the second innings of South Africa, to take a total of 9 wickets in the match for West Indies. Shamar Joseph destroyed the first innings, with 5 wickets, whereas he had no success in the second innings. Aiden Markram, who failed to open his account in South Africa's first innings, played his shots around the ground and scored a fifty, while Kyle Warren played a 59-run inning.

Earlier, West Indies' first innings collapsed for just 144 runs. Jason Holder remained unbeaten after scoring 54 runs. After bowling, Shamar Joseph also did wonders in batting and played an innings of 25 runs. During this, 7 batsmen of the team could not even cross the double-digit mark. Nandre Burger took 3 wickets, Wiaan Mulder took 4 and Keshav Maharaj took 2 wickets. Kagiso Rabada also got a success.
