Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana became the best cricketers in the world, got this big honor

Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named as the world's best male cricketer in the renowned Wisden Cricketers Almanac 2025. In addition to him, Indian women's cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been honored as the best female cricketer of the year. This time, India's cricket dominance has been witnessed in these honors. But the Best T20 Cricketer's honor has been awarded to Nicholas Pooran.

Jasprit Bumrah, who became the first Test bowler in history to take 200 wickets at an average of less than 20 in 2024, has been described as the 'Star of the Year' by Wisden editor Lawrence Booth. Bumrah took 71 Test wickets at an average of less than 15 and played an important role in India's victory in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean in June. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah alone took 32 wickets at an average of 13.06. Booth wrote that he was very deadly. He also claimed Bumrah to be the greatest player of all time.

Indian women's cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been considered the best female player in the world by Wisden. In 2024, Mandhana scored 1659 runs across all formats, the most runs scored by a female player in a calendar year of international cricket. This also includes four ODI centuries from her bat, another record. Mandhana scored her second Test century (149) in a 10-wicket win over South Africa in June.

At the same time, West Indies star batsman Nicholas Pooran was declared the best T20 player of the year. This time, three players from Surrey County, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, and Dan Worrall, have been included in Wisden's five cricketers of the year. Apart from these, Hampshire's Liam Dawson and England player Sophie Ecclestone have also been awarded this prestigious honor.

New Zealand's Mitchell Santner's 13 wickets in the Pune Test played against India gave the Kiwi team an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Due to this, India lost its first home Test series since 2012. Santner has been awarded the Wisden Trophy for this performance.
