Jaipur Art Fair at RIC: Celebrating Rajasthan's Cultural Tapestry through Art and Craft
Clothes printed with the natural colours of Nilgiri by Dr Brij Ballabh of Jaipur and products prepared with organic printing by Premlata were displayed also at the fair.
Jaipur: Celebrating art, culture and creativity, the two-day 'Jaipur Art Fair' organised by the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) Jaipur Chapter at Rajasthan International Center (RIC) concluded with an awards ceremony on Sunday. Organised on the theme 'Rang De Jaipur', this art festival witnessed a beautiful presentation of the vibrant heritage and culture of Rajasthan. Around 88 renowned artists in handicraft and handloom were given a platform to showcase their art and creativity. The winning participants and 15 national award-winning artisans were honoured at the awards ceremony.
Expressing delight over the successful organisation of 'Jaipur Art Fair', Chairperson, FICCI FLO Jaipur (2024-25) and Director, Cheer Sagar Exports, Raghushree Poddar said that through this platform we are trying to revive and actively promote the traditional arts of Rajasthan. Handicraft and handloom artisans also got the opportunity to showcase their talent and art to the public. This two-day fair presented artworks of various styles including Handblock Prints, Meenakari, Gemstone Carving, Blue Pottery, Tarkashi, Wood Carving, Phad Painting, Miniature Painting, and Koftgiri.
Women empowerment through art in portrait exhibition
A portrait exhibition was organised by the Artist Ashok U Shah under the 'Jaipur Art Fair'. In the exhibition, he displayed the portraits of more than 25 successful women created by him. Former Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Mamta Sharma inaugurated this exhibition. In the exhibition, Shah displayed portraits of famous women personalities like Nita Ambani, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Gita Gopinath, Natasha Poonawalla, Priti Adani, Vandana Luthra and Isha Ambani. Shah said that this youth talk and exhibition was organised with an aim to take inspiration from these ideal women. In this exhibition, Shah also displayed the lyrics of some poems and songs written by himself that he has dedicated to women.
A platform for award-winning artists
Many eminent artists of the State were given a platform to showcase their art at the 'Jaipur Art Fair'. One National Award-winning artist, Vinod Jangid displayed his wood miniature carving art. He informed that there is a surprise element in each of his artworks. Giving an example, he showed a 'Jharokha', which had 'Shiva Darbar' as a surprise element. Apart from this, he also displayed other creations including 'Sitar', 'Pankhi', etc. Three paintings by famous miniature artist, Ramu Ramdev were also displayed. These included paintings of Lord Ganesha along with nine planets and 27 constellations and paintings of 'Ramlala' and Lord Ram created from gold, ruby and emerald.
Many talk shows were also organised on the second day of the art fair: The Power of Art for Holistic Development of Children by Ms Jasleen; Restoring Art and Architecture by Shalini Ghelot, Raghav Dhoot, Shantanu Garg and Simran Kaur and Talk with Entrepreneurs Under Ghungat by Shakuntala Dhoot, Jayshree Periwal, Sunita Shekawat, Leela Bordia and Aruna Singh.
In this two-day art fair, art installations by schools like Yellow Brick Road School, Jayshree Periwal International School, Manipal University, Mayoor School, Disha School, Khushboo Mehta, Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls School, Maheshwari Public School, Vardhaman Group of Schools, Neewara Academy of Design, Poornima Handicraft, Poornima University, Seedling Public School, Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management and Gramothan, Arch College of Design and Business and Neerja Modi School were also displayed. At the same time, organic and artistic food by women entrepreneurs also attracted the public.
