Chennai Super Kings has won the IPL 2023 title. CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in a thrilling final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Devon Conway, who scored 47 off 25 balls, was the player of the match.
CSK needed 10 runs off the last two balls. Ravindra Jadeja made CSK the IPL champion for the fifth time by hitting a six on the fifth ball and a four on the last ball. With this, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni equaled Rohit in terms of winning the most IPL titles.
Rohit has made Mumbai the winner five times under his captaincy. Now Dhoni has also made Chennai the champion five times. Chennai had earlier won the title in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
In the final match played on Reserve Day, Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. Gujarat scored 214 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. Sai Sudarshan scored 96 off 47 balls. Due to rain, Chennai got the target of 171 runs in 15 overs. The team achieved it on the last ball of the 15th over after losing 5 wickets.
CSK needed 13 runs in the last over. Shivam Dubey and Ravindra Jadeja were on strike in front of Mohit Sharma.
