These days, online fraud is spiraling up. Fraudsters find new ways of online fraud daily, and in such a scenario, if this year, like many others, you have also filed ITR, then this news is very useful to you. The Income Tax Department has warned people to beware of fraud. An effort is being made in this, and the department has appealed to people via social media that mythological false calling and pop-up messages have started coming to the people, in which it is claimed that they will get tax refunds. If any such message comes to you, stop them immediately and complain about it.

The IT department has received many complaints where taxpayers are getting such pop-up messages. In these, there are attempts to commit fraud in the name of approval of tax refunds. It is written in these messages that your income tax refund of Rs 15000 has been approved and will be deposited in your account soon. An account number too is mentioned. It's written in the text that if the account number is not correct, it is to go to the link and update the bank details. Immediately the person clicks the link, the moment hacks his phone, and the cybercriminal empties the money in his account.

If you have also received any such message, then you can complain about it directly by going to the link given below. http://incometaxindia.gov.in/pages/report-phishing.aspx You can also contact the Income Tax Department's helpline number 18001030025 / 18004190025 and register your complaint.

The Income Tax Department said on Twitter, 'Do not respond to such emails or visit such websites where you are asked for credit card number, bank account information or any other confidential information. It was told that the department can contact the taxpayers only on the email provided by them.'
