FIFA has delayed a decision on the Palestine proposal for Israel's exclusion from international football to allow its national football team must participate in the Paris Olympics. The final of the Olympic men's football is slated for August 9.

Two months ago, after announcing a neutral legal examination into the proposal by Palestine, FIFA was supposed to shed more light on that in a meeting with the team Saturday. This would have come four days before the kick-off of the Olympic football event in which Israel has been mapped to compete in a group that also includes Japan, Mali and Paraguay.

FIFA said on Thursday that it will take more time to complete the process, meaning the decision will now come after the Olympics. FIFA said that both sides have requested an extension of the deadline to present their side. This means that the independent assessment can no longer be submitted to FIFA before August 31.
