Israel-Hamas War: Sword hanging on Elon Musk's X handle amid war, reprimanded by EU for misleading information

Since the rampage by Hamas gunmen in Israel, the risk of spreading false and misleading information on social media platforms has increased.

In this series, the popular platform X Handle has also come under the scanner of the European Union for spreading wrong and misleading information. The European Union is angry at Ax Handle owner Elon Musk.

European Union Commissioner Thierry Breton posted a letter on the X handle. According to this letter, on Tuesday Thierry Breton warned Musk about spreading misinformation.

He said that illegal and wrong information is being propagated on the X handle.

The EU has been strict regarding internet rules and regulations. In such a situation, the European Union requires social media platforms for these laws, so that misleading and false information can be prevented from spreading.

According to a report by Reuters' Fact Check team, during the war, a document of the US government was edited and spread on social media. This document was an approval to provide $8 billion in military funds to Israel from the US government.

Similarly, a concert by American singer (Bruno Mars) was also spread on social media platforms with the wrong caption. Wrong information was given that this footage is from an Israeli music festival, which was attacked by Hamas.

Regarding X's Community Notes feature, it was also said that wrong information was reported, but by then thousands of users had read this news. In such a situation, even the Community Notes feature of X does not seem to be of much use in preventing the spread of misinformation.

In response to this, X informed through a post that with the Community Notes feature,

However, sometimes it is difficult for the company to check all the content on such a big platform.

Researchers are also facing problems in checking wrong and misleading information on X handles. Researchers are no longer able to auto-track keywords, hashtags, and information related to real-time news.

The biggest reason for this is that access to data tools is not available on X. Before Musk's arrival, most of the facilities were free.

According to Ruslan Trad, resident fellow at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, they need to manually check information on X.
