Iran hangs former Deputy Defense Minister: After taking British citizenship, he was called and imprisoned, Sunak said - this cowardly act
In Iran, the process of giving death sentences to protesters and people who oppose the government is going on. Meanwhile, Iran has hanged Alireza Akbari, a British citizen and its own former Deputy Defense Minister, for being guilty of espionage.
Alireza Akbari had dual citizenship in Iran and Britain. Due to this Rishi Sunak has expressed anger over the hanging given to Alireza. He said that Iran has done a cruel and cowardly act. This shows that the leaders in power in Iran do not respect the human rights of their own people.
Before the execution, BBC got audio of Alireza Akbari. In this audio, he is telling that he was living in Britain for a few years. In 2019, he was called by an Iranian diplomat for talks. When Alireza reached there, he was arrested. Alireza told before his death that he was being tortured by intelligence agents for 3500 hours.
Alireza was saying in the audio that Iran is making him confess his crime in Hollywood style by installing 10 cameras. Alireza had said- These people are breaking my courage by torture and psychological methods. They are driving me crazy and calling everyone who wants to hear them.
Iran's Intelligence Ministry has described Alireza Akbari as one of the country's biggest infiltrators. He has been accused of passing intelligence to Britain's Secret Intelligence Service M16. The Intelligence Ministry said that its agents lured Alireza into giving false information and then caught him.
