IPL 2025: South African legend Dale Steyn suddenly left the team before mega auction
Dale Steyn Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach, IPL 2025: Steyn said on the social media platform X, 'Thank you very much to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years as a bowling coach in the IPL, unfortunately I will not be back for IPL 2025.'
In the last week of November, the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 can be held. Before this, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a major setback which is when Dale Steyn left the team. Dale is the bowling coach and former South African fast bowler of the team.
Steyn posted on social media platform X, saying, "A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach at the IPL, unfortunately, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025. However, I will continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. "
Notably, though, Steyn was appointed as the bowling coach of SRH when Tom Moody was the head coach towards the end of 2021. Moody then made way for Brian Lara in 2023, and in front of the 2024 season, Daniel Vettori was announced as the head coach. This season, after Vettori took over, SRH played their first final since 2018, losing to KKR. Steyn has represented franchises like SRH, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and a few other teams in the IPL.
