The Federation of All India Medical Association (FEMA), an organization of doctors, has petitioned the Supreme Court, requesting that doctors be granted temporary protection until the National Task Force (NTF) recommendations, which were established by the highest court, are carried out.

The association has stated that doctors frequently become victims of alleged incidents of violence and that their safety is at risk. The association is demanding intervention in the ongoing apex court hearing on the case of brutality of a female doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College.

The association said that it is very important that resident doctors have adequate representation in the NTF, as they are experiencing problems on a regular basis and they may be in a position to suggest solutions to these problems.

It also sought that CCTV be installed at all sensitive points i.e. entrance and exit, and corridor of the hospital/hostel. It also highlighted the health workers being troubled due to unhealthy working conditions that were tantamount of violation of their inalienable fundamental right to mere work.

The petition also seeks adherence to the provisions of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 and implementation of NTF suggestions within a time frame.
