Infiltration attempts are being made continuously on the India Bangladesh Border, five Bangladeshis arrested in Tripura
India Bangladesh Border: Inspector Das said that we started this operation after receiving intelligence information about illegal entry of some Bangladeshi citizens in the border town of Lankamura on the outskirts of Agartala. Police and BSF took immediate action and detained the suspects. During interrogation, they have admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens.
Bangladesh, the neighboring country, is still simmering in the wake of the recent coup. Five Bangladeshi nationals who entered the Indian border illegally amidst threats of infiltration into India have been arrested in Tripura.
On Sunday, Tripura Police and Border Security Force conducted a joint operation and arrested the five. According to Inspector Paritosh Das, in charge of West Agartala police station, these arrests have been made based on secret information.
Inspector Das has said that we initiated this operation following the intelligence input regarding the illegal entry of some Bangladeshi citizens into the border town of Lankamura on the outskirts of Agartala. The police and BSF took instant action, detaining the suspects. They have confessed to being Bangladeshi citizens during interrogation.
All the five arrested individuals are from Chapai Nawabganj district in Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. Tripura Police is going to present all five suspects before the Agartala court. The law enforcers will now seek remand from the court for further interrogation so that the identity and subsequent arrest of the cross-border brokers involved in this illegal infiltration on the India-Bangladesh border can be done.
Many Bangladeshi citizens have been caught earlier while illegally infiltrating from the border.
