Industrial production picks up in the country: IIP grew by 5.2% in January, and 4.7% in December 2022
The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in the country has increased by 5.2% in the month of January. This information has been released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) on Friday (March 10). Last month in December 2022 IIP was 4.7%.
IIP has registered a growth of 5.4% in the first 10 months of 2022-23, lower than 13.7% in the same period of 2021-22. Industrial production, measured on the basis of IIP, grew by 2% in January 2022.
According to the National Statistics Office (NSO) data, in January 2023, the production of the manufacturing sector increased at a rate of 3.7%. Mining production increased by 8.8% and power generation by 12.7% in January.
There has been a boom in India's core sector in January. Data released on February 28 showed India's core sectors grew by 7.8% in January, up from 7% in December.
