Indigo joins hands with Turkish Airlines
Indigo joins hands with Turkish Airlines: After Air India, Indigo now orders 500 aircraft from Airbus-Boeing
After Air India, now the country's largest airline Indigo has placed an order for 500 aircraft. In fact, IndiGo has announced a new partnership with Turkish Airlines, as part of its expansion plans.
Indigo has already placed orders for around 500 aircraft with Airbus and Boeing. The move by the airline is expected to improve passenger services from India to Istanbul and beyond.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of International Sales, IndiGo, said, “Currently IndiGo has 1,800 flights a day and 10% of them operate on international routes. The farthest we travel to are Turkey and Istanbul. Going forward, we are keen to run flights to longer distances.
Under its new code-share partnership with Turkish Airlines, IndiGo will be able to fly passengers from India to Istanbul and then on to more than 27 destinations in Europe. These destinations include major cities in the UK, France, Italy, Ireland, Austria and Switzerland.
The airline has 76 online points within India itself. This means IndiGo can fly passengers from all over India to Delhi and Mumbai and then even beyond to Istanbul and Europe.
Vinay Malhotra said, 'Indigo has ordered 500 more aircraft for the expansion plan. Currently, 1,800 flights a day and 10% of them are flying on international routes. Our current international flights are focused around the Indian subcontinent and some other nearby countries.
Talking about the deal with Turkish Airlines, Malhotra said, “The farthest we travel is Turkiye and Istanbul. We are very keen to fly further and that is why we have partnered with Turkish Airlines. This is a code-ship partnership that allows us to enter Europe like never before."
Malhotra says that IndiGo offers the best connectivity to Europe while assuring people of hassle-free carrier services, on-time performance and affordable fares. He also revealed that IndiGo has plans to launch 2 new destinations (Nairobi in Kenya and Jakarta in Indonesia) in the near future.
Let us tell you that on February 14, Tata Group-owned Air India announced that it would buy a Total of 470 wide-body and narrow-body planes from Airbus and Boeing. The company has ordered 470 firm aircraft, 370 options and purchasing rights from Airbus and Boeing over the next decade.
