MHA: The Government of India has taken several tough steps to stop the financing of terrorism and strengthen the security of the India-Bangladesh border. Giving information, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that the government has taken technical and strategic measures to enhance the security of the India-Bangladesh border.

The Government of India adopted a series of tough steps towards stopping the financing of terrorism and strengthening the India-Bangladesh border's security. Giving out information regarding the global conference on the financing of terrorism, Union Minister Nityanand Rai informed that the third 'No Money for Terror' (NMFT) ministerial conference was held in New Delhi on 18-19 November 2022. 77 countries and 16 multilateral organizations participated in the conference. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed that on this platform the ongoing global measures towards stopping the financing of terrorism were discussed and the solutions for tackling new issues were debated.

Technical and strategic measures have been implemented by the government for the fortification of the India-Bangladesh border. Under which the most advanced surveillance equipment is also used. Hand-held thermal imagers (HHTI), night vision devices (NVD), drones (UAV), CCTV cameras, IR sensors, etc. have been installed. Along with this, the pilot scheme of 'Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System' (CIBMS) has also been launched in Dhubri, Assam.

Continuous patrolling, checkpoints, observation posts, and joint operations with local police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are being carried out on the India-Bangladesh border. At the same time, boats and floating border outposts (BOPs) have been deployed to protect the river areas. At the same time, floodlights and solar lights have been installed in view of the lighting arrangements in the border areas so that surveillance can be done even at night.

In this episode, the intelligence network has been strengthened so that smugglers and intruders can be monitored. At the same time, fencing has been further strengthened in sensitive areas. 15 anti-human trafficking units of BSF have been deployed. In this, the participation of the local community is important, such as regular meetings with local people, deployment of dogs, vehicle patrolling, etc. Border security is being further strengthened.

Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that India is committed to dealing strictly with terrorism and illegal activities. All necessary steps will be taken to make India's borders more secure. The border security agencies of India and Bangladesh are in constant touch under the 'Joint India-Bangladesh Guidelines' of 1975. Under the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) signed in 2011, the nodal officers of BSF-BGB hold regular meetings.
