For the development of the country, many new highways and expressways are being constructed by the central government. Many expressways have been built in India. These connect almost all the big cities. Due to these expressways, the speed of India has increased or it can be said that these expressways have an important contribution in the pace of development of the country. Nowadays people reach from one city to another in less time due to good roads. At the same time, today we are going to tell you about India's most expensive and busy expressway, which has many records in its name-

India's Mumbai-Pune Expressway connects two big cities Mumbai and Pune. This is the oldest six-lane expressway in the country. Its length is 94.5 km. When it was first opened in 2002 by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A part of this expressway was opened to the public in 1999. By the year 2002, this highway was fully operational for the people of the country. Here you have to pay a very expensive toll tax, but the amazing thing is that despite the expensive toll tax, it is the busiest expressway in India.

India's Mumbai-Pune Expressway will have two additional lanes added to the expressway in the coming months. A senior official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) told the media that the officials intend to build one lane on each side of the expressway, which will require 100 hectares of land. Due to its natural beauty, the expressway route offers spectacular views of the Sahyadri mountain range, which makes it even more beautiful. The tunnels and underpasses built to cross the expressway also offer beautiful views of the hills. The speed limit on the expressway is 100 kmph.

The expressway has been built at a cost of more than Rs 16,300 crore. It reduces the traveling time between Mumbai and Pune from three hours to just one hour. The expressway is very popular among long-distance commuters as well as daily commuters because it saves a lot of time.

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway boasts the highest toll in the country at Rs 336 for travel by car, which translates to roughly Rs 3.40 per kilometer. It is one rupee more than the standard fare of Rs 2.40 per kilometer. Fastag is among the major modes of payment on the expressway. In order to make sure the tourists have a hassle-free travel, they should check whether their Fastag has enough balance. The toll on this expressway increases by 6% every year. It was last revised in April 2023, when the toll was increased from Rs 270 to Rs 320 and for vehicles like minibus and tempo, it was increased to Rs 495 instead of the existing Rs 420.
