India's foreign exchange earnings through tourism have increased by 107% to Rs 1.34 lakh crore in 2022. It was Rs 65,070 crore in the year 2021. The Ministry of Tourism said in a statement on Friday that the tourism industry has shown good signs of recovery after the Corona epidemic.
India is set to receive 6.19 million Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in 2022 as compared to 1.52 million in 2021, said G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of the North-Eastern Region. Answering a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Reddy has given information about the latest data from the Bureau of Immigration.
The Central Government provides financial assistance to State Governments, Union Territories and Central Agencies in a planned and phased manner. The Central Government provides this help to its Swadesh Darshan, Prasad and Central Agencies under its assistance schemes.
The ministry also said that the ministry has set up a 24x7 multi-lingual tourist info helpline on the toll-free number 1800111363. Apart from this, support service is provided to domestic and foreign tourists in 12 languages including 10 international languages on a short code 1363 – German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and English languages. So that tourists can be given information and guidance related to travel in India.
